Synopsis
Charlee Rae Darrow is a rancher's daughter tough and honest. She's not afraid to speak her mind or say what she wants. The day Billy True saves her family from outlaws, she knows that what she wants is him. A young scout with a risky life and a troubled past, Billy isn't as easy to catch as Charlee would wish. But life in the West is hard and dangerous in the years following the Civil War, and nothing comes easy for anybody in their small settlement. Charlee wants more than anything in the world to be with Billy, but when another man comes between them and Billy risks his life chasing the demons of his past, can their relationship survive? In such an unpredictable land, can it endure the trials of growing up?
About the Author
Jack was born in Kansas, and came out of the drought and depression of the 1930’s. During his school years he moved around, not staying more than a year in one place. In 1945 he attended high school in Bakersfield, CA, and was influenced dramatically by his coaches and teachers. After high school, Jack saw action in the Korean War, serving with the Navy on patrol frigates off North Korea. After discharge from the service, he attended colleges receiving a B.A., M.A., and an Ed.D. He worked in the field of Special Education and was a Director of Special Education for twenty-seven years. He has been a Lecturer at the University level, preparing teachers to work in Special Education. During his life, Dr. Schuetz has been intrigued by the frontier life of the West and the challenge of outdoor experiences. He has spent years camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing and in nature study. Jack has acquired a large reference library for frontier life, Indians, cowboys, gunfighters and the American Indian wars.
