Illustrated by a portrait of the author, an in-text woodcut, and several plates: black and white drawings of scenes from the history of the Associated Press. Inscribed by the author on the free front endpaper. This covers the (what was then) hundred years of history the AP Press had witnessed: "the inside story of the only world-wide non-profit news-gathering association as it grew from pigeon post and pony express to telegraph and wireless". The author covers stories of journalists who suffered and died to cover events like the Spanish Civil War, the Russo-Japanese War, the Spanish American War, and the First World War. A moving history of journalism, difficult to find in collectible condition. A Near Fine book with minor offsetting to the front flyleaf; dust jacket is Very Good with a few hints of edge wear and toning, and a few tiny stray marks to the top edges of the flaps.
