Scarce double signed as Weaver died the in the year of the novel's publication. Condition: a near fine copy in like dust jacket. Apart from a previous owner s neat name written on the ffep and light shelf wear there are no flaws. The Name of the Rose is Umberto Eco s debut and most loved novel. Originally published in Italian in 1980, the intelligent murder mystery set in a monastery in medieval Italy gained instant recognition and sold over 50 million copies worldwide to date. It was adapted into an international film starring the great Sean Connery in 1986 who played William of Baskerville. Eco received so many letters from his readers that the Postscript (1983 in Italian, 1984 in English) was published to explain some of the hidden meanings in the novel. First and Fine.
