Item description from seller

4to. 25pp, 2 multi-folding engraved hand coloured maps at rear. Original printed blue-paper wraps, uncut, modern brown cloth gilt. Some browning to leaf-edges. Stevenson's name is invariably associated with the construction of lighthouses, particularly that of Bell Rock. However, he was able to turn his hand to all types of engineering projects: bridges, harbours, river crossings, to name a few. The two maps here are finely engraved. Skempton 1435: NLS, Institute of Civil Engineers. DISCOVER adds LSE.
