The letter says in part: Dear Judy: Thank you for contacting my office to express your interest in becoming an astronaut. Perhaps I can provide a few useful pointers on furthering your career objectives. While in high school, physical and intellectual growth are essential. I suggest that you select courses that cover a wide variety of subjects and maintain a strong in mathematics, chemistry, and physics. I would also encourage you to pursue courses in English, history, and humanities. Continue your physical eduication, and interscholastic sports is one good way of maintaining good health.
