TLS Field Marshall Evelyn Wood VC. Typed signed note headed Friars House, new Broad Street, London, E.C., 24th May 1911. Addressed to the editor of the Daily Mirror, thanking him for the impressions, particularly of German soldiers that were sent to him. Field Marshall Sir Henry Evelyn Wood (1838-1919) was awarded the VC for bravery during the Indian Mutiny. He went on to serve in the Ashanti, Zulu and Boer wars, and in Egypt, then being appointed to a number of positions in administration of the British army, until retiring in 1904. 18.5 x 23 cm.
