A set of original hand-written documents containing the attainment of surveying qualifications, and subsequent appointments, culminating in the appointment of Baker as Surveyor General for Hawkes Bay up until 1887. The documents include one recording the appointment of Baker as surveyor of goldfields for the Auckland province in 1869. Horace Baker arrived in New Zealand in 1866, brother of the surveyor John A Baker and initially appointed as a surveyor under Theophilus Heale in Auckland in 1869. Seller Inventory # 019854
