12 x 12.25" string-bound album with a red cover and gold letters on the front that spell out "This Is Your Life"; the 'i' in 'life' is missing and the 'f' has been damaged. There is also an illustration of flowers from an anniversary card pasted onto the cover. Contains around 20 black and white photos and 4 color photos documenting the marriage of Alice Peters and David Fairfield. Photographs measure between 2.25 x 3.5" and 5 x 4" and most are held to the pages with corner tabs, although the color photos are taped in. Handwritten annotations identify people and places, but further information is provided in the detailed handwritten account of Alice and David from their first meeting, their houses in New York and later Florida, the births of their children, Janet Lorraine and John David, all the way up to their 40th anniversary in 1965. There is also a newspaper clipping about a surprise party thrown for Alice and David's 40th anniversary and around 11 loose cards congratulating them on the occasion. Although the album is not entirely filled, it contains a wealth of memories for the couple. Excerpts from the life of Alice and Dave Alice and Dave (September 18. 1965) Our story began in 1924 when you Alice, then Alice Peters, met one of New York's finest; Officer David Fairfield, at the Flatbrush Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. During your courtship days, the gals in the office where you were employed (Dugan Brothers in Brooklyn, N.Y.) naturally had to have a bit of fun, so kidded you by saying, "Be Careful Now, that boyfriend may be a married man with six children." Alice, you took all that kidding in your stride and on September 18, 1925 married that handsome young police officer in the rectory of a Cypress Hills Church (Blessed Sacrament). Returning from your honeymoon in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts you lived at 24 Chestnut Street in Cypress Hills, N. Y. with the sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom Bena and Harry Schneider. A year or so later you set up housekeeping in your own apartment in Rockaway Blvd in South Ozone Park, N. Y. While living at that address you really stepped out one day when you became the very proud owner of a brand new 1927 Essex Automobile. A few years later you bought your own home at 129-23 135 Place in South Ozone Park, across the street from your favorite Aunt & Uncle (Ella & Albert Vetter). October 9th, 1930 was a very happy day in your lives, for on this day your daughter was born in Jamaica Hospital, Jamaica, N. Y. You named her Janet Lorraine. With this new addition to the family the next few years passed by pleasantly & happily. July 1933, the stork again hovered over your home and on the 23rd a son is born to you in Jamaica Hospital, Jamaica, N. Y. You named him John David. In the fall of 1935 you made a trip by auto to Florida to attend an American Legion Convention in Miami, Florida. That was the time you got sand in your shoes, for right then & there you decided that some day you would like to make your home in Florida. Your daughter Janet celebrated her fifth Birthday while on that trip with you in Florida. Baby brother John stayed up north with Gertie & Frank Jacobean, being too young to go touring at the tender age of two. . Feb. 28, 1959 you moved from Lakeland into your spanking new home here on the suncoast, at 1400 Royal Palm Drive in Jasmine Acres in New Port Richey, Florida. You were delighted to find many of your new neighbors had formerly lived in Long Island. There were always interesting conversations taking place as you all compared familiar places & events of former years up north. Alice you served as chairman of the new members committee of the Jasmine Acres Civic Association and enjoyed meeting & welcoming the new folks as they moved into the area. You also gave of your time and collected funds for a future hospital in New Port Richey. You must have felt a special bit of pride when you attended the opening ceremonies of the New, West Pasco Hospital here in N.
