Doyle, A. Conan (author); Bertram Millhauser and Lynn Riggs (Screenwriters). SHERLOCK HOLMES IN WASHINGTON, a 115pp Revised Final draft screenplay dated July 1st, 1942, which consists of a heavily corrected mix of original watermarked ribbon typescript, and studio mimeographed pink and blue pages; dozens and dozens of ordinary and red-penciled marginal corrections can be found throughout, likely (based on other scripts we have from this archive) in director Roy William Neill's hand. Bound in drab colored studio covers which are typically worn and cracked, with one piece of tape repair and rusted brads, but the contents are complete and in Very Good condition. SHERLOCK HOLMES IN WASHINGTON opened on April 30th, 1943 to excellent critical reviews, especially for director Roy William Neill who used a few exciting Hitchcock directorial twists to the appropriately twisty plot. There was also overwhelming praise from a thrilled public despite the fact Basil Rathbone as Sherlock switched his iconic pipe for cigarettes! A unique artifact from Universal's most enduring mystery detective series of the 1940s. Unique. Seller Inventory # 003477
