About this Item
Richard Nixon signed letter, January 4, 1954 as Vice President thanking Congressman Carroll Kearns for a congratulatory welcome home message to he and Pat. In the fall of 1953 Nixon went on his first foreign trip as Vice President. The goodwill trip to the Far East lasted more than two months. Nixon devoted almost 20 pages of his memoirs to the trip. He cites it as establishing the foundation of his foreign policy credentials and much of his thinking about Asia and communism. It also established some level of relationship with many people who also rose to higher positions in their governments when he was president. The Nixons returned from the trip on Dec. 14, 1953. The letter on Vice President letterhead is signed Dick and is in excellent condition. The association with the seminal experience that shaped much of his foreign policy thinking makes this a much better than average letter as Vice President. Seller Inventory # 4517
