Envelope hand written to ?Henry Crabtree, General Manager Great Northern of Buenos Ayres Railway, Buenos Ayres,Argentina, South America? (Great Northern Railway). The rear of envelope is blind embossed ?Great Northern Railway Goods Manager?., undated c1870?s. From the Net; The Great Northern Railway (FCBVBA) 18 miles long to San Fernando, had as its engineers William Bilton, who died in Argentina in January 1863 and M King. It seems to have been poorly run until the arrival of Henry Crabtree in 1869. The Buenos Aires and Enssenada Railway (FCBA Enssenada) was a scheme of the American William Wheelwright. There is more on the net about Henry Crabtree of The Buenos Aires, but you have to read the books on the net, but no obvious shortcut. Including Henry Crabtree ?who has been in the service of the Great Northern Railway Company for fourteen years , and now superintendent of their metropolitan?. Also has the envelope makers blind embossed rear (Waterlow & Sons. etc). Condition good, with some age/wear. Complete (see scans) no contents and not stuck, glue part unused. Size Approx 8 x 13.5cm.
