Founded by the writer Adolf Herckenrath (1879-1958) in 1909; continued by his son Walter Herckenrath (1907- 1989) and by Walter's children Guy and Helga Herckenrath until around 2000?.Po�te, dramaturge, libraire et �diteur. Adolf Herckenrath est entr� dans l' histoire en tant qu'ami d'enfance pour lequel Karel van de Woestijne a �crit son Laethemsche Brieven sur Lente (1901)? � partir de novembre 1909, Herckenrath r�sida dans la Veldstraat, o� il conserva la librairie Adolf Hoste et, une fois l'universit� devenue bilingue, principalement consacr� � la litt�rature francophone. Entre les deux guerres mondiales, Herckenrath �tait toujours actif en tant que professeur et membre du conseil d'administration de l'acad�mie de th��tre de Gand, pour laquelle un magazine De Tooneelschool (1937-1940) avait �galement �t� fond�. Il aida � fonder Pan, le cercle de la litt�rature flamande orientale, en 1938? En 1935, Herckenrath s'installa dans la villa 't Kersouwken sur l'Eikeldreef � Sint-Martens-Latem. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il y r�sidera officiellement pendant quelques mois (de mai � novembre 1944). Il est ensuite retourn� dans sa librairie de la Veldstraat o� il vivrait (au moins officiellement) jusqu'� sa mort. Apr�s la guerre, sa librairie a �t� reconstruite par le c�l�bre architecte Geo Henderick. Gr�ce � la continuation de son fils, Walter, et de ses petits-enfants, Guy et Helga, le nom Herckenrath a �galement surv�cu jusqu'� la fermeture de l'entreprise � la mi-2000.

Shipping Costs: For books within the US: Ground UPS $8 for first volume, $4 for each additional volume. Heavy volumes cost more. Prints and posters $20.00 for 1-3. Most foreign shipments by airmail are $17.00 up to 1 pound or $60.00 up to 2.2 kilos by courier. For all other shipments, please inquire.

UPS shipments are insured for $100.00 automatically. Higher amounts available. If merchandise is damaged in transit, customer must save shipping container and file a claim with UPS or other carrier. Do not return merchandise without having first filed the claim and received a return authorization.
