About this Item
2pp. One sheet folded. 4 1/2 by 7 inches. Circa 150 words. Autograph letter from the prolific English novelist, collector of folk songs and hymn writer, Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924). He is best known as the author of the hymn "Onward Christian Soldiers". In this letter to a publisher Baring-Gould notes he is returning the corrected proofs of the story "Red Suede", a story of the farming community, but has decided that another story "Eve" would be better suited for their publication, being the better of the two. A good copy with some light soiling to the paper and a faint crease down the middle of the page. Seller Inventory # 38
