In this polite thank you note, Pershing states in part: ".deep appreciation of your kindness. congratulating me on the receipt of the Pulitzer prize." Pershing won the 1932 Pulitzer Prize in History for his book My Experiences in the World War. Letter is written on a 10 1/2" x 7 1/4" sheet of stationery imprinted "John J. Pershing/Washington". Included is a business card imprinted "General Pershing". Pershing has written "Deeply appreciate your birthday message. Thanks" in black ink. Condition: Mounting residue on verso with slight bleed through to the recto, mailing folds, otherwise good condition.
