About this Item
Writing from the Kenmore Hotel in Boston on March 11, 1932, Rudy Vallée responds to Erold B. Beach of Marblehead, Massachusetts in this friendly typed letter signed. The letter reads: "My dear Mr. Beach: May I thank you for your very kind letter of cordiality and congratulations. It is almost an impossibility to acknowledge all my mail sometimes due to my jumping around here and there, and sometimes to a great influx of it. However, I hope that this expresses to you my sincere appreciation of your appreciation." Rudy Vallée (1901-1986) was an American saxophonist, bandleader and was the first male singer to be called a "crooner." Vallée became wildly popular for hosting radio shows during the 1930s and 40s, and went on to have numerous hit records and to appear in various films. Typed on a 10 1/2" x 7 1/4" sheet of "The Kenmore" imprinted stationery. Condition: Mailing fold lines, striped discoloration due to the letter having been stored in one of those ubiquitous photo albums with non-slip lines. Generally good condition.
