In German. 1972 first edition Ludin AG (Liestal, Switzerland) 6 1/8 x 9 inches tall paperbound in light orange printed wraps, copiously illustrated, 37-363 pp. plus six folding plates in a printed envelope at the rear of the volume. Prior owner name and reference number to front cover. Slight fading and edgewear to covers and slight curl to lower tip. Prior owner name to envelope of plates. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. Includes descriptions of three new genera and six new species. ~G~ The 1972 University of Basel doctoral dissertation by Burkart Engesser, one the most renowned specialists on Cenozoic rodents and insectivores worldwide. Burkart also published reference papers about the stratigraphy and biochronology of Europe, especially about the Cenozoic Swiss fresh water molasse and also showed a constant interest in biogeography, palaeoecology and mammalian evolutionary history in his publications. Association copy: The prior owner, Dr. Leonard Krishtalka, is a well known Vertebrate Paleobiologist who currently directs the Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Research Center at the University of Kansas.
