Jodocus Hondius's "Nova Virginiae Tabula," printed in Amsterdam in 1618, was the first derivative of the Smith map. Willem Janszoon Blaeu purchased Hondius's plate in 1629 and used it with little alteration for the next forty-two years" - Stephenson & McKee.
