Excellent. Size 15 x 24.5 Inches. This is a dramatic 1909 Edward W. Spofford view of New York City celebrating the opening of the Singer Tower. The Singer town was worthy of such a view, for this kind of high oblique perspective would have been a novelty to most New Yorkers as the newly finished Singer Tower was, at the time, the world's tallest skyscraper, New York's most innovative building, and a Beaux-Arts design wonder. A Closer Look The pen and line illustration looks north from the observation deck of Singer Tower. The view up Broadway extends well into Midtown, where the Metropolitan Life Insurance Tower, another contender for New York's tallest skyscraper completed in the same year, is recognizable. The otherwise low-rise cityscape underscores the extent to which 1908 was the dawn of New York's skyscraper age. Singer Tower The Singer Tower, completed in 1908 in New York City, was an iconic early skyscraper and a symbol of the rapid urbanization and architectural innovation of the early 20th century. Designed by renowned architect Ernest Flagg for the Singer Manufacturing Company, the building stood at 612 feet (187 meters) with 47 stories, making it the tallest building in the world at the time of its completion. The Singer Tower's Beaux-Arts design featured an elegant, slender profile, topped with a copper dome and lantern that became a defining feature of the New York City skyline. The building served as the corporate headquarters for Singer, a leading manufacturer of sewing machines, reflecting the company's global prestige. Despite its architectural significance, the tower was demolished in 1968 to make way for a modern office building, sparking widespread criticism and fueling the burgeoning preservation movement in New York. Today, the Singer Tower is remembered as a masterpiece of early skyscraper design and a lost treasure of New York City's architectural heritage. Publication History and Census This view was drawn by Spofford in 1909 and published in the same year for the Singer Manufacturing Company. This is one of four views Spofford completed for Singer, one for each of the cardinal directions. The views are extremely rare, with the New York Public Library owning the only complete set. Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Geographicus Rare Antique Maps, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A., +1 6463208650, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal

Shipping
Geographicus ships Fedex Ground orders Tuesday, and Thursday. Typically orders placed before 3PM EST during these days, will be shipped on the same day. Orders placed after 3PM EST will be shipped on the next shipping day. For domestic shipping, we use FedEx Ground, FedEx Express, and if necessary USPS Express. International shipments are dispatched via DHL or FedEx International, depending on the size of parcel and destination. Other shipping can be arranged on request but may incur additional fees. We do not ship on Saturdays, Sundays, or official U.S. Holidays. All shipments require a signature on delivery. All shipments are insured. Clients will be provided with a tracking number for all shipments. Geographicus does not use freight forwarders or third party shipping agents.
We do our best to ensure timely delivery of your purchases. Nonetheless, even the best courier services do not have perfect track records. Holidays, weekends, international customs, vehicle breakdowns, and inclement weather can result in unforeseen and unavoidable delays. If you are purchasing an item for a gift or you otherwise have a specific deadline, please specify this information on your order form and use a shipping method that allows a safe time cushion for receipt of your order.
Handling, Customs, and Storage
Geographicus does not refund any shipping, handling, storage fees or international customs charges that the buyer may incur after purchasing an item from us. All customs charges are the buyer's responsibility and will vary from country to country. For a specific list of customs regulations for other countries please consult that sovereignty's customs office directly.
Insurance
All maps and books shipped to and from Geographicus Rare Antique Maps are insured by our Fine Arts Dealer policy. The deductible on all shipped items is 100 USD. The deductible is paid by the shipper unless otherwise agreed. Damage claims must be filed within 7 days of receipt to be honored. Lost parcel claims can be filed up to 3 months after the shipment is sent.
