The is a beautifully composed map of New Englands, It is designed with the highways of the region at the forefront. The legend starts with highways. There are: Main Through auto Routes, Other Important Auto Routes, Secondary Auto Routes, Other improved Highways and Connecting Highways. Next comes railroads: Most Important, Less Important, For Freight Only. then comes Inter urban Trolley Lines; Own Right of Way, Along Important Road and AlongLocal Road. Then comes ,in the legend; Steamship Lines, Canals and Automobile Ferries. Thereafter come political boundaries. To say that this is a transportation map site the nail on the head. The fact that it is such a large scale yielding a big wall map adds to the importance of catching the region in the developments of the era of WWI. The Crockers of National Survey Fame started working early on for the Bufford Company, makers and purveyors of detailed large scale maps. Their early maps like the one here present were published almost a decade before their bound books of New England. They continued in business and published travel guides as late as 2000. Very good with minor tears along the fold junction as would be expected of this used map. Expertly repaired with archival mending tape. Seller Inventory # 638
