[Descripción en español a continuación] Small map of the south of Peru and the west of Bolivia. Coloured in the aquatic areas, highlighting the Pacific Ocean and Lake Titicaca together with the Desaguadero River. The map was published in London in the year 1874 by Clement Markham, who was a British explorer, geographer and historian, known for his work in the Royal Geographical Society and his studies on South America. He travelled to Peru in 1852, where he investigated Inca history and promoted the introduction of quinine into India, obtained from the Peruvian cinchona trees. He was also responsible for fostering British polar exploration and supported Robert Falcon Scott's expedition to Antarctica. Throughout the map we can observe various important cities such as Arica, Tacna, Mollendo, Islay, Ayacucho, Cangallo, San Juan de Lucanas, Pauza, Cuzco, Lampa, Arequipa, Puno, Juli, La Paz and "Achacache" (Achacachi) among others. Worth noting is the use of shading to define the relief of the territory, where we can clearly highlight the passage of the Andes range through it. In the upper right part of the map we can see an elevation map of the railway lines between Arequipa and Puno. In the lower left part we find the title together with the scale and the key. -------------------- Mapa del sur de Perú y oeste de Bolivia.
