U. S. Government. General Topographical Map, Sheet XXVI, Kansas & Missouri. From Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, 1861 ? 1865. 1895. *** This is an engraved, color lithograph map. It depicts geographic and cultural features that existed in Kansas and Missouri during the American Civil War. Shown are cities, towns, villages, hamlets, post offices, forts, roads, railroads, `Indian Reservations, hills, plains, rivers, etc. Kansas is thinly settled, and no battles are depicted, probably because the armies could not find each other in such a vast, empty space! Large scale maps, like this one, of western states during the Frontier Era are not common, and provide an excellent source of historical information. *** Sharp, clean image with good colors, blank verso. One center vertical fold, as issued. *** The sheet is approx. 18.5 inches high by 29.25 inches. The image is 17 inches high by 28 inches. Seller Inventory # M0027
