Antique map of France. Back side French text. Hand-coloured copper engraving, made by Gerard Mercator in 1585. Published in Amsterdam in 1619 by Jodocus Hondius in "Atlas Sive Cosmographicae Meditationes De Fabrica Mundi Et Fabricati Figura. (.)." What is striking about this edition from 1619 is that the title page of the atlas has a Latin text, while the text edition as such is in French. Dimensions (image): 36 x 41 cm.
