About this Item

Antique map of the seventeen provinces. Northwest above. The title at the top, encased in a panel, carried by putti and surrounded by a band. The card is surrounded by a wide oval decorative border. In the edge the names of the four cardinal directions in Latin and Dutch text. On top of the scale stick a compass, below the scale sticks: "Cum Privilegio". Latin text and page number 32 on the back. Hand-coloured copper engraving, published in Antwerp in 1592 by Plantin's printing house in "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum," Abraham Ortelius.
