Beautiful map hand colored at the time of publication. Mississippi is finely detailed. The counties, cities and town are prominently displayed. In the north coming out of Memphis through Corinth is the Memphis and Charles ton Railroad. Corinth was considered a key strategic point for the north to capture. It was the junction of the north to south Mobile and Ohio Railroad and the rest to west Memphis & Charleston RR. The southern axis of rails centers on the Vicksburg & Shreveport- Southern Railway. Connectivity is boldly displayed in the ante-bellum cartographic masterpiece.
