Nicolas Bellin, 1760. *** A copper plate engraving with both solid and outline hand coloring. Lots of topographical details and place names for rivers, lakes, mountains, and coastal features. Nice decorative cartouche at the top. These provinces were Spanish colonial possessions at the time this map was printed. *** Bellin was an important 18th. Century French cartographer who produced many maps during his 50 year career. His emphasis on accuracy over art makes his maps less decorative then his predecessors, but still attractive by modern standards. His student and successor to his work was the famous cartographer Rigobert Bonne. *** Clear, crisp impression with good colors. Verso is blank. *** The sheet is just over 12 inches high by 9.5 inches, image is 8 inches high by 6.5 inches. Seller Inventory # M1033
