About this Item

Nicely composed map of Oregon. There is a clear picture of the condition of roads in the state. The Red lines are paved roads. The yellow lines are rock or gravel surfaced roads. The clear lined roads are not defined in the simple legend. There is a distinct difference between the paved roads of the western part of the state and the unpaved and sparse roads of the eastern part of the state. The road between Pendleton and Walla Walla is surfaced in Oregon. The Columbia River Highway is paved to Dalles. The state was busy and included accurate depictions of the national highways. This map shows those designations for the first time in 1926 when they were issued. There is a back cover advertisement for "Meier and Frank Co. Largest Distributors of Merchandise at Retail in the Northwest 100 Department catering to every need." Overall, this is a most attractive simple presentations making a contribution to the traveling public. Very good condition map with mild soiling to the covers.
