Map of Tunesia and Algiers. Tunesia. This plate engraved by Anthonie de Winter. Anthonie de Winter (1652-1707) was a ornamental etcher / engraver. He originated from Utrecht and worked in Amsterdam. from: 'Curieuse aenmerckingen der bysonderste Oost en West-Indische verwonderens-waerdige dingen; nevens die van China, Africa, en andere gewesten des werelds.', by S. de Vries, published in Utrecht by J. Ribbius, 1682. Ref: Hollstein 95 Engraving on laid paper. Watermark: Three circles Made by 'Nicholas Sanson'. Nicholas Sanson d'Abbeville (1600 - 1667) and his descendents were important French cartographers active through the 17th century. Good, given age. Small margins, with the folds as published, some browning. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
