Published by A Zgorolec, London, 1978-1979; 210 x 295mm, about 80pp per issue; here the monthly issues are held, looped over strings, in a bright yellow PCW dedicated cover; the individual magazines (and the cover) are in good condition throughout although there is inevitably some creasing, minor tears or scuffing. . . . . . Personal Computer World, known widely as PCW, was the first microcomputer magazine to be published in Europe, initially bi-monthly but from issue 1/3 moving to monthly publication; issues 1 and 2 were not dated but were intended as being published in March and May with issue 3 following (as it does) in July. Volume 1 offered here lacks issue number 4 (August 1978) but is otherwise complete and in reasonable condition for a magazine. . . . . . The 1970's, particularly later in the decade, was a period of experimentation and self-building of PCs from both kits and accumulated components. There was also a plethora of operating systems, with attendant confusion and lack of connectivity, this later settling down initially to the commonality offered by CP/M and variants and largely successfully by MS-DOS and its variants although of course Unix, again with variants was and remains important. The likes of Apple continued along its own path also. The magazine eventually closed with the August 2009 published in June of that year. Along with the likes of Kilobaud and Byte published in the US, PCW played an important role in disseminating information about the rapidly growing microcomputer and attendant software development markets. . . . . . NOTE that as the collection weighs almost 3.5kg it's likely to require a carriage supplement, subject to destination and service. Seller Inventory # 001659
