In 1946 Penguin Books issued this Premier Issue of the "Penguin Music Magazine, a paperback-sized periodical with a healthy selection of articles and pictures about things musical, including operas, ballet, theater and classical composing. This first issue was edited by Ralph Hill. There is a nice selection of contemporary halftone, black-and-white photographs arranged in a discrete section. This is that scarce First Issue. Number 1. It's a paperback format publication from immediately post-war England in 1946, when paper shortages and restrictions still held sway (1946). The toning of the paper testifies to that . and because of that, such publications are often fragile, and proper care should be taken when handling them. No leaves are detached or loose. / INTERIOR : The paper is unavoidably toned (to be expected from immediate post war production); an impact has caused some top corner tip creasing and a bit of loss near the end of the book.
