"Digest and Review" was a competitor to "Readers Digest" published by C. H. fingerhood. The editor was Franklin L. Nelson. Like "Readers" "Digest and Review" culled the newspapers and periodicals of the day to copy brief snippets and sometimes a goodly part of various articles. The results were a gratifying overview of what was being talked about in America. In this issue are two excerpts which are real eye-openers . both of which reveal a history that most Americans are not aware happened. 1) World War II was raging in Europe. England and France were sorely taxed. The United States had not enetered the war . In fact, as condensed from "United States News" : UNCLE SAM STILL SELLS WAR WEAPONS TO AXIS POWERS. In light of what happened this seems shocking . even shameful. 2) Today many Americans think that the United States was caught totally by surprise by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. But there were people in the know who had warned America of Japan's war threat. Condensed from the "Los Angeles Times", is an article by Andy Hamilton : JAPAN HAS WAR PLAN LIKE HITLER'S "MEIN KAMPF". Said Japanese leaders, "In the future if we wish to control china, the primary move is to crush the United States ." There is much else of interest in this issue.
