Item description from seller

DODGSON, Campbell. (Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum from 1912 to 1932.). A letter on headed British Museum notepaper dated Feb. 11th 1929. Dear Sir, I have only just received your letter dated 6th inst. I will have the book sent back to you tomorrow. I think the two German drawings are rather interesting, but at the same time I do not think that either is an original. I regard both as old copies and on that account do not think that I ought to suggest buying them for the Museum. Even if you are willing to entertain this idea. I sent a photograph of the St [.?] to the best authority on Durer drawings at Berlin, and he was not disposed even to share my opinions that it might be a copy of a lost Durer. It seems to me, however, nearer to Durer (as a copy) than to any of his pupils. Yours faithfully. C. Dodgson.
