"This group of 25 separate items is the full contents of a packet mailed from The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, Fort Wayne, Indiana to a Alameda, California educator in about 1937 with the shipping envelope still containing the 25 items - - with the shipping label showing a portrait of Lincoln and a three-cent stamp showing in the corner. The 25 items contained in the packet are all in about near fine condition with about 23 of the items showing the "National Defense Through Patriotic Education Committee - National Society - Daughters of the American Revolution? - - and these items include a broad array of national patriotic promotional ephemera with such titles as The Flag Speaks - Lincoln's Gettysburg Address - The Star Spangled Banner - The Cadets Prayer - The American's Creed - One Flag ! One Country ! - What the Constitution Means to You - and more - - with a number of items printed on 6x9 paper and other items of smaller card-stock, and all showing numerous colored American flags and the DAR logo. Three items show a connection with the The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company - - with one item - - the Abraham Lincoln - A Concise Biography by Louis A. Warren of about 22 pages - - and with the Life Insurance logo showing. A second item is a 5.5 x 8.0 color portrait of Lincoln with an accompanying letter from Lincoln to a Mrs. Bixby sympathizing with her loss of her sons in the Civil War. Both these items show the life insurance company name. Another item from the insurance company is a small 4.25 x 2.625 inch envelope with the statement that the envelope contains a - - Facsimile - Lincoln's Gettysburg Address - - with the envelope sealed but with a folded paper clearly inside. These are generally at least near fine with several pieces of paper folded at the top margin to allow for inclusion into a mailing envelope - - and with several showing one bumped corner - - but beyond that the paper is in fine condition.".
