Sudermann, Hermann, 1857-1928. Der gute Ruf. Schauspiel in vier Akten. Stuttgart und Berlin: J. G. Cotta'sche Buchhandlung Nachfolger, 1913, 2.-5. Auflage, 168pp., very good small gray cloth with gold titles, lightl wear to covers, two fold marks on half-title and title-pages. Contemporary play set in Berlin. Around 1900 Sudermann and Hauptmann were the most successful naturalist dramatists, providing a sort of sociology of the period (Die Ehre, 1889). Sudermann appealed less to the critics and his later work appears to be a footnote.
