Paperback. If you have ever wondered: How do I get an internship? or What is a work placement? This book will answer your questions. A summer internship and a summer job are not the same things. Completing a structured internship or work placement can have a much greater impact on your future employability than simply getting a temporary job. The potential benefits are huge. If you are a student and you would like: a good salarya graduate job offera more focused career directionimproved confidencea better class of degree Then this book is for you. As a former university Work Placement Manager who has helped hundreds of students find placements and internships, I know the challenges you are likely to face. Unlike other books on applying for jobs, this does not just cover the nuts and bolts of the application process. It covers topics that are rarely mentioned but crucial to your success, including: The three main challenges and how to overcome them Timing - apply too late and most of the opportunities are already gone; give up looking too early and you miss the opportunities when most of the competition has gone Emotions - before you get to elation, you could meet disappointment. There is one characteristic that all successful candidates have - they can overcome rejection. It doesn't matter how many times you get rejected, what matters is that you get a job offer. Strategy - most students don't have a strategy and this causes them to overlook opportunities, waste time on unsuccessful applications and unnecessarily limit their job search. This book covers step by step what you need to include in your strategy, how to implement it and how it will give you an edge over the 99% of students who don't have one.
