8vo. 320 pp. Orange publisher's cloth, black lettering covers & spine (minor shelfwear, rubbing, Rental Library markings on endpapers), w/ d.j. cover art of cowboy chasing down a steer towards cowgirl holding a six-shooter by C.E.D. (minor chipping head & foot of spine, creasing, edgewear, couple closed tears), still a G/G copy, from the Eleanor T. MacMillan Rental Library in the Portland, Hotel. First edition of this fast-paced Western set in a raucous Amarillo, TX with "Galloping Barry," a "sliver-built, saddle-warped bronco buster" fighting off "a pack of bad hombres" and pursuing the skilled gun-toting Molly Mary "because she has a fine hand with horses and can strike out square and hard in danger." Yore (1875-1936) joined the Texas Rangers in 1890, worked as cowpuncher, packer, stage driver, and prospector, followed the Klondike Gold Rush as a journalist, fought in the Spanish-American War, and eventually published 20 Westerns, two books of Western verse, and over 600 short stories.…
