Add to basketAmsterdam, Nico Israel, 1976. 35 x 25 cm. Cloth with dustjacket. 256 p. Very richly illustrated in color and black/ white. 1st edition. Tear in spine of dust jacket. Beautifully illustrated giant book about the preparation of an incunabula edition, known in the Low Countries as the World Chronicle of Hartmann Schedel. Contracts for the illustrations, calculations of profits and unsold copies have been preserved, and in 1972 previously unknown designs for the layout and woodcuts were discovered. These were extensively documented, depicted in large format and interpreted for this beautiful publication. From the Huib Van Krimpen collection.
