About the Author

Romancier, essayiste, psychologue, Manès Sperber (1905 -1984) était un intellectuel engagé. Communiste, il rompit avec cette idéologie en 1937, lors des procès de Moscou, et s'installa d Paris. Amide Malraux, de Camus, de Koestler, de Raymond Aron, il fut aussi un grand éditeur : on lui doit notamment la "découverte" du Journal d'Anne Frank et l'introduction en France d'auteurs comme Joseph Roth, Hermann Hesse et Patricia Highsmith.
