Item description from seller

The group traces Wrangel and his army from the final phase of the Russian Civil War through the military emigration that followed the evacuation of Crimea, and ultimately to the ceremonies surrounding his death and reburial. Particularly significant are the documents relating to the transfer of Wrangel's remains from Brussels to Belgrade in 1929, including an official circular addressed personally to Balashov, the preliminary ceremonial programme with plans for the funeral procession, and a presentation copy of the subsequent memorial publication. 1. ??????????? ??????? ????? [Vozrozhdenie Russkoi Armii - The Revival of the Russian Army.] ?????????? ?? ??????????? ?????? Constantinople: ???? ??????? ?????? [Bureau of the Russian Press], 1920. 34 pp. A contemporary White Russian account of the reconstruction of General Pyotr Wrangel's Russian Army, published in Constantinople during the final phase of the Russian Civil War. Described as "compiled from official data," the pamphlet presents Wrangel's reorganization of the Armed Forces of South Russia as the Russian Army and his military and administrative programme from the White perspective. Its Constantinople imprint places it among the earliest publications associated with the Russian military emigration following the collapse and evacuation of the White forces from southern Russia. 2. ???????, ?????? ? ?????????? ?????????????????? ??????? ?????? ????????-?????????? ?????? ????? ??????????? ???????? ?? ???????? [The Illness, Death and Funeral in Brussels of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Army, Lieutenant General Baron Pyotr Nikolaevich Wrangel.] Brussels: ???? ????????????? ? ??????? [Union of Gallipoli Veterans in Belgium], 1928. 34 pp., with portraits and illustrations. A contemporary documentary memorial to Wrangel's final illness, death, and funeral, published in Brussels by the Belgian branch of the Gallipoli veterans' organization. Wrangel died in Brussels on 25 April 1928. Printed in December of that year by the Polyglotte press in a stated edition of 1,000 copies, the publication records his death from within the military émigré community closely associated with his army. 3. Committee for the Perpetuation of the Memory of General Baron P. N. Wrangel. Circular concerning the transfer and reburial of Wrangel's remains. Belgrade, 15 September 1929. Printed circular with manuscript address to Andrei Vladimirovich Balashov. An official circular announcing the transfer and reburial of Wrangel's remains in Belgrade on 6 October 1929 and inviting Russian émigré organizations to participate in the funeral procession. Recalling the struggle in Crimea and the mass evacuation under Wrangel's command, it presents the ceremony as an expression of unity among the anti-Bolshevik Russian emigration and gives instructions for delegations and wreaths. Issued by the memorial committee under Lieutenant General Ivan Barbovich, with S. N. Paleologue and N. M. Kotlyarevsky as deputy chairmen. 4. ??????????? ?????????????? ??????????? ????? ???????? ?????????????????? ??????? ????? ???????? ?????? ? ? ???????? ?? ??????? ??????? ?? ??????? ???????? ?? ???????? [Ceremonial Programme for the Solemn Transfer of the Remains of General Baron P. N. Wrangel to the Russian Church at the Old Cemetery in Belgrade.] Belgrade, 1929. The preliminary programme for Wrangel's reburial, accompanied by three detailed diagrams showing the reception of the coffin at the railway station, the order of the procession through Belgrade, and the disposition of participants at the Russian Church. Giving the alternative dates "29 September or 6 October 1929," it predates the final arrangement recorded in the circular of 15 September, which fixes the ceremony for 6 October. 5. ??????????? ????? ???????? ???????? ?? ???????? 6 ??????? 1929 ?
