La crítica literaria tiene el término un tanto ostentoso de bildungsroman para referirse a aquellas novelas que relatan el crecimiento moral o psicológico de un personaje, su paso, muchas veces doloroso, de la juventud a la madurez. Novelas de formación o aprendizaje, también se llaman.
Este libro podría ubicarse bajo esa categoría, de no ser porque no es una novela, o no del todo. Es acaso un ensayo de formación. O un diario escrito a destiempo. Cuenta, ciertamente, la historia de crecimiento de un personaje, sus diversos ritos de iniciación -el amor, el sexo, el miedo, los viajes, la escritura, los excesos-, su continua expulsión del Paraíso. Pero esta historia de crecimiento también lo es de sus antepasados -pues el pasado siempre está en constante expansión-, y además es el relato del anhelo de un contexto.
Este libro es el bestiario de una memoria. O la cartografía de un olvido. Otro término popular de la crítica literaria contemporánea es el de autoficción. Este libro podría adjudicarse esa etiqueta de no ser porque uno de sus propósitos es, justamente, combatirla. La literatura siempre se ha ocupado del yo, de esa zona del mundo tan diminuta y tan absoluta, sin necesitar de etiquetas de moda. Este libro -cuaderno vivo, con pulso y extremidades- así lo reconoce. También reconoce que ver el mundo distorsiona el mundo. No se diga vivir en él; mucho menos, narrarlo.

Where is the line between fiction and autobiography, between reality and interpretation or convenience?
Literary critics have the slightly ostentatious term of bildungsroman to refer to those novels that tell about the moral or psychological growth of a character, and their often painful path from childhood to maturity. &;Coming-of-age novels,&; they are also called.
This book could fall into this category, except that it&;s not a novel, or not entirely, anyway. It is a sort of &;coming-of-age essay.&; Or a diary written at the wrong time. It certainly tells the story of a character&;s growth, their various rites of passage&;love, sex, fear, journeys, writing, excesses&;their continual expulsion from Paradise. But this story of growth is also about ancestors&;since the past is in continual expansion&;and it is also the tale of longing for a context.
This book is the bestiary of a memory. Or the cartography of an oversight. Another popular term in contemporary literary criticism is autofiction. This book could fall under that label, if not for the fact that one of its purposes is precisely to combat it. Literature has always concerned itself with the self, that tiny, absolute part of the world, without the need for trendy labels. This book&;a living notebook, with a pulse and extremities&;recognizes as much. It also recognizes that seeing the world distorts the world. And that&;s without mentioning living in it, much less narrating it.

About the Author
Rafael Toriz Toriz (Xalapa, 1983) Prosista de amplio espectro, escribe narrativa y ensayo enfocado en la crítica cultural así como en relación con las artes y la literatura. Colaborador de los principales medios impresos y digitales de América Latina, ha publicado el bestiario ilustrado Animalia, el libro de relatos Metaficciones, los tomos de ensayo Del furor y el desconsuelo, Serenata y La ciudad alucinada. Escritor residente de la Hispanic Writers Week de 2013 a 2016 de la Universidad de Massachusetts (Boston), ha recibido en México los Premios Nacionales de ensayo Carlos Fuentes y Alfonso Reyes. Becario de diversas instituciones de apoyo a la cultura #Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas, Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, Presidencia de la Nación (Argentina)#, desde 2008 vive en Buenos Aires, donde se dedica a la producción y locución de radio y al periodismo cultural. Conferencista y profesor de centros culturales, universidades y museos dentro y fuera de México, es miembro fundador y practicante de la antropología tropical.

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to La Social. Galería y Libros, Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
