First edition (hardback). 8vo (25cm by 16cm), xviii, 498pp, 2pp adverts. Engraved extra-title, and 39 engraved plates at the back of the book. Publisher's binding of half burgundy morocco, brown cloth boards, gilt titling to the spine, top edge gilt. This book was formerly in a reference library, with labels to the front endpapers, a stamp to the copyright page and a gilt shelfmark to the spine, there is some rubbing to the edges of the binding and the spine, and some foxing to the preliminary pages and the plates (a couple of plates are moderately foxed; elsewhere the foxing is light). Overall, this book is on good plus condition.
