Black cloth with bevelled edges, bumped to corners with light damage to head of the spine. Black bands and gilt lettering to front and spine. Binding firm but cracked along the front gutter. Black endpapers. Small ink stain to verso of ffep. Frontispiece b/w map. viii, 659pp., b/w illustrations, publisher lists. Text in two columns. Edges of the page block stained red.
