[2], 191pp, [1], li, [3]. With terminal advertisement leaf. Contemporary panelled calf. Slight splitting to joints, some loss to head of spine. Contemporary ink ownership inscription to recto of front blank fly-leaf; Jo: Dod / Ex dono Rich: Atherton de Bucey Armig: / Oxon: 1719, worming to lower margins of first three and final two gatherings - clipping text occasionally. The first edition, with contemporary ownership by a graduate of Brasenose College, of Church of England clergyman Nathaniel Marshall's (bap. 1680, d. 1730) controversial defamation of nonjurors; to which prominent nonjurors and latitudinarians such as Hilkiah Bedford (1663-1724) and Arthur Ashley Sykes (c.1684-1756) responded with ire.
