Item description from seller

London : Bloomsbury, 1997 - 2006. Seven volumes, octavo, illustrated wrappers; slight sunning to spine of the second title, light handing wear, a near fine set. A rare complete set of the first seven titles in the Harry Potter series, including the true first edition, first printing, of the first and rarest volume, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, a classic of modern children's literature, with the subsequent volumes of the series in the matching illustrated wrapper editions. Printed in London on 30 June 1997, this first publication in the Harry Potter series would spawn a multi-billion dollar industry of publications, films and merchandise, whose influence only continues to permeate popular culture. Five hundred copies were published in hardback, of which 300 or so were distributed to UK schools. A trade paperback was issued simultaneously in an edition of 5,150 copies. The seven titles in the series comprise Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Uniform first edition sets of the famous Harry Potter series in such fine condition are increasingly hard to find in the market. Reference: ERRINGTON, Philip. J. K. Rowling : A Bibliography 1997 - 2013. London : Bloomsbury, 2015. Errington A1(aa); A2(b); A7(e); A9(e); A12(d); A13(c); A14(b).…
