Nobbes was the first to write extensively on the subject of trolling, and has come to be called "the father of trolling." Rivers in England included in Nobbes' treatise: Avon, Cham, Swift, Ouse, Humber, Trent, Tine [Tyne], Tweed, Severne, Thames, Chester, Dove, Medway, Tame [Thames]. (Delapree was a Norman-era monastery in Northampton, England that became a private residence after the 1538 Dissolution of the Monasteries.) Charles Hardy (1714-1780) was a colonial governor of New York (1755-1757) and a British Admiral. Angling collector J. C. Lynn's Bibliotheca Piscatoria Lynniana's circular piscean bookplate on front free endpaper. Nobbes preface dedicates the book to James Tryon, Esq. of Northamptonshire.
