Condition; Contents, mostly Very good, clean & tight, some signs of corner folding, title page detached but in fairly good condition, small edge tears (see all images), lacks all before title page, most likely just blank end pages. ( 6 to rear, 4 trimmed), hard to see, but title had 'For the use of schools' has been colored out with white, a few very minor handling marks. Binding full leather hardback cover rear fair, rubbed, corner knocks, spine rubbed, full leather hardback front cover is detached and not the original, a fraction higher, but looks 18th cent. Known as David Watson of Brechin (Scotland). This is a compendium of the Roman and Greek gods and goddesses etc. and explains who the gods were, their contemporaries and details on their altars, oracles and temples, etc. This is a rare title and this being a very rare first edition, published by the author for the subscribers, but as so popular there was a later second edition. Now most institutions do not have an actual first edition (i.e. some have microfilm or modern ebooks of this 1st edition). At time of listing, found no other copy for sale.
