Ce manuscrit (Suppl�ment persan 1029) contient les cinq po�mes ou Khamse (Le Tr�sor des secrets, Khosrow et Ch�r�n, Leyl� et Madjno�n, Les Sept Portraits et Le Livre d'Eskandar) du grand po�te persan Nez�m� (XIIe si�cle). Ces cinq po�mes sont des textes en m�tre �pique, tr�s populaires en Perse, et qui ont donn� lieu � la copie de dizaines de manuscrits. L'int�r�t de celui-ci est d'�tre une œuvre exceptionnelle de l'art du livre persan du XIIe si�cle. Cette copie, sign�e du calligraphe 'Abd al-Djabb�r, est dat�e de 1620-1624. Elle poss�de une page de titre, cinq pages d'ouverture des po�mes et trente quatre peintures, dont deux sign�es Haydar Qoli Naqq�sh, peintre de l'�cole safavide. Il s'agit probablement d'une commande royale, ou d'un membre de l'entourage de Chah Abb�s Ier, � l'�poque o� la cour �tait install�e � Ispahan. Le manuscrit a �t� acquis en 1877 lors de la vente de la biblioth�que de J.-B. Nicolas, ancien secr�taire-interpr�te fran�ais du Shah de Perse. L'album reproduit les six pages d'ouverture et l'ensemble des peintures, accompagn�es d'une traduction de quelques vers du texte illustr�.
