Item description from seller

First French edition. Illustrated by the author. French translation by A.-M. Cocagnac. Slim small quarto. Boards a bit splayed with moderate wear and a bump at the spine base causing a 5/8" tear, sound and near very good. First published in Japan in 1970. Although not marked in any way, from the library of Charlotte Zolotow, editor and publisher at Harper’s celebrated children’s books department, and acclaimed author of over 65 children’s books. Laid in is a two-page English translation of the book, presumably for a potential English-language edition (light staining along the topedge of the first leaf). An interesting association copy of what appears to be an uncommon book in either French or Japanese; we find no evidence of an English translation being published.
