First edition, second issue; 8vo, pp. [4], 44, [2], 225, [1], 115, [5]; 49 folding engraved plates; contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards, binding slightly rubbed and worn, lacking spine label, top and bottom of spine chipped, else very good. Emerson (1701-1782) presents his method of finding the areas of figures which, he claims in the preface, is an improvement on the ancients "very laborious" method.
