xii, 578, [1] p. Illustrations. Notes. Bibliography. Index. The expedition of Commodore Matthew Calbraith Perry to Japan in 1853 was the first official contact between the Japanese empire and the U.S. Scrupulously researched and dramatically presented, this is a powerful historical narrative of Commodore Perry's expedition to "open" Japan to international trade. Good. No dust jacket. Cover has some wear and soiling.
