A Yankee At The Court Of King Arthur by Mark Twain. First UK Edition. The Uniform Illustrated Edition. Illustrated by Dan Beard. xiv + 526 + 32 pp. This book is in good condition. The red cloth boards are in good condition but show some shelfwear. The boards are cocked. The corners are bumped and rubbed, with some minor loss of cloth to the front board bottom right corner. There is a 7mm tear to the cloth on the rear board along the side edge and another 1cm loss of cloth along the spine edge adjacent to the rear board. The front board shows some marks suggesting a cup has been placed on the front at some time. The front board also has some fading marks along the right edge. The spine is slightly sunned, with the spine edges crushed. The spine bottom edge also has 6 small splits in the cloth. The gilt titling to the front board and the spine is bright. There is some foxing to the free end papers, and the first 14 pages, particularly to the title page and its greas proof paper insert. There is a previous owners name written in pencil to the half title page. The half title page and the following page were originally attached at the top edge, and this has been separated by a previous owner, resulting in some closed and open tears along the top of two pages. The hinges have slightly parted from the paper at the front and rear end papers. The closed page block is discoloured with age, particularly the top edge. Otherwise, the pages are clean and the binding remains sound. There is no dust jacket with this edition. See images. If you need to see any more, please do ask. Seller Inventory # 541
